And that 19% of area employees say that their employers have a formal telework program in place? Employers today are taking a stand against the growing congestion and giving their employees a better work/life balance. Implementing commuter benefit programs allows employers to maintain a competitive edge in today’s market while giving their employees the balance they need.

According to the most recent State of the Commute Survey for the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Region, in 2007, 27% of employees said their commute was more difficult than it was one year ago. 75% of those respondents said it was more difficult because of increasing congestion.

In the Washington, D.C. region people have come to accept congestion as a fact of life. However, if you ride through Arlington County, you will notice that it remains relatively uncongested and accessible. This is because Arlington County has recognized the importance of multi-mode transportation infrastructure and provides some of the best transportation assistance services in the United States.  Arlington County also understands the importance of commuter benefit programs in keeping the streets congestion-free. That is why Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) was formed as Arlington’s business-to-business transportation organization.
