Best Workplaces for Commuters

Best Workplaces for Commuters logoThe Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) oversees the Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) program, a voluntary national standard of excellence for employer-provided commuter benefits, established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation.  CUTR is working with a variety of national, state, regional, and local organizations and agencies--including Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP)--to challenge employers to voluntarily meet the national standard of excellence.

Employers who participate in BWC receive the designation "Best Workplace for Commuters"--a mark of excellence for environmentally and employee-friendly companies. Just a few of the companies that have achieved this level of distinction include the following:

  • Arlington County Government
  • GEICO Direct
  • Intel
  • The Marasco Newton Group
  • National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)
  • Nike
  • Government of the State of Maryland
  • Walt Disney Company

BWC is easy to implement and ATP can assist you every step of the way to help you design and implement the commuter benefits programs you need in order to meet the national standard of excellence. To become a Best Workplace for Commuters all you need to do is sign the BWC partnership agreement (available from the BWC website) and offer at least one primary commuting benefit and three or more secondary commuting benefits.
